Pre-Operative Surgical Instructions

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS REGARDING YOUR ORAL SURGERY APPOINTMENT

    • Unless otherwise instructed, take all medications that your physician, as well as your oral surgeon has prescribed with a small sip of water.

    • You will always be given local anesthesia (numbing medicine) for your surgery. If you are unclear about anything, please ask your oral surgeon.

If you are to have IV anesthesia (going to sleep)

    • Do not eat or drink anything for 8 hours before your scheduled surgery, except for prescribed medications with a sip of water.

    • Diabetic patients should consult with the surgeon about specific directions regarding insulin dosage.

    • Please wear a short sleeve shirt and loose fitting clothes. Dress as comfortably as possible and bring a sweater for after surgery.

    • If you wear contact lenses, bring a container and remove them prior to your surgery.

    • Please remove all jewelry prior to arriving. If you wear nail polish, please remove it before surgery.

    • Adult supervision is required for the first 24 hours after surgery.

    • Do not plan to fly or scuba dive within the week following your surgery.

    • It is mandatory to have a responsible adult with you, who must remain in the reception area for the entire duration of your procedure to drive you home. If your ride is not with you, the surgery will not be performed. Should they leave during the procedure, an additional anesthesia recovery time fee of $1000.00 will be incurred.

    • This surgery time has been reserved specifically for you. Cancellation notice of 72 hours prior to the procedure is required or your deposit will be forfeited.

    • Our goal is to provide you with a safe, pleasant and effective anesthetic. In order to do this, it is imperative that we have your full cooperation. Please feel free to ask any questions concerning your surgery and/or anesthetic.
