Facial Implants

The cheekbone (malar bone) can be enhanced or augmented using an implant placed through a small incision inside the mouth. This is usually performed for deficiency of the cheekbone or midface and to reverse the effects of aging. Cheekbone implant surgery can be performed in the office with local anesthesia and IV sedation. You will usually return to normal activities within 5-7 days.

Facial implants are used to fill deep wrinkles or folds, or to enhance, augment or repair soft tissues of the facial area. Placement of facial implants is performed in one brief, minimally invasive procedure resulting in predictable patient outcomes with results that last for years, compared to injectable fillers that are reabsorbed within months and require multiple treatments to sustain aesthetic results.

Facial implants are available in a wide selection of sizes and configurations to meet the specific needs of many patients. Facial implants have an excellent record of clinical performance with high patient satisfaction and a low incidence of complications as reported in published studies.

Atrium Medical Corporation, a leader in expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) vascular grafts and implant technology introduces Advanta ePTFE facial implants. Advanta is a next generation ePTFE facial implant which features an innovative dual-porosity architecture consisting of a soft, high porosity center integrated with a smooth, medium porosity outer layer. This unique dual-porosity architecture results in an implant with a softer look and feel and a more biocompatible facial implant which integrates with the patient’s tissue in a more natural healing process.
