Oral & Facial Surgery Staff, Dr. SegelmanAllyn E. Segelman, D.M.D., S.M., S.M.

Clinical and Administrative Coordinator

Dr. Segelman, a Boston native, received his D.M.D. degree, Cum Laude from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and holds a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Education from Tufts University, School of Dental Medicine, Postgraduate Division, Advanced Education Program in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He also holds two additional Master of Science degrees from Harvard University in both the Public Health field of Epidemiology and in the business field of Health Care Management.

Dr. Segelman has served Extramural Fellowships from the National Institutes of Health as Clinical Fellow in Oral Surgery (Oral Cancer) at Tufts University, School of Dental Medicine and Research Fellow in Dental Administration, Oral Health Policy & Epidemiology at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. He is a Diplomate of both the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and the American Board of Oral Medicine. He is licensed to practice Dentistry in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the State of Florida. He is a Certified Dental Consultant for the dental benefits industry by the American Association of Dental Consultants.

Dr. Segelman was in the private practice of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in Boston, as well as performing research and academic teaching at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, where he was Assistant Clinical Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. From 1997 to 2003 he was the Dental Director, Dental Operations and Policy, at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts.

Dr. Segelman moved to Florida and joined the practice in 2004.  Dr. Segelman’s unique skill sets allows him the ability to provide exceptional clinical surgical judgment and care, as well as a background of medical and dental insurance industry experience that allows him to be an exceptional advocate for patients coordinating issues of insurance predeterminations, and appeals.

Dr. Segelman practices with Dr. Katz in a Team approach, sharing patient care responsibilities affording our patients the benefits of 35 years of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery practice experience, as well as the latest technical advancements and clinical skills of the 21st century.

Oral and Facial Staff Boca Raton, FLBarbara Brenner, R.N.

Practice Manager

Barbara was born and raised in Queens, New York. She moved to Florida in 2003. She received her R.N. from Beth Israel Medical Center School of Nursing and is also a graduate of Hunter College both in New York.

Barbara’s previous work experience includes an extensive clinical background having provided both In-patient and Ambulatory care for Orthopedic patients at Beth Israel Medical Center, Surgical Department and the Hospital for Joint Diseases, Orthopedic Institute, Surgery Department. Her previous management experience includes Practice Manager of Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Associates of New York City.

Barbara is responsible for staff oversight and all facets of financial and clinical management. She leads her team by example, providing concern for patient welfare and dedication by assuming this responsibility with close post-operative patient follow-up.

Her outside interests include her eight children, and in spare time equestrian and sailing hobbies.

Treatment Coordinator

Joy was born and raised in New Jersey. She graduated Union County Technical school and practiced as a licensed Cosmetologist in New Jersey until she came to Florida ten years ago.

Since that time she has been active as a Treatment Coordinator in Orthodontic and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery offices.

Joy assists patients with clarifying their health care benefits and financial arrangements, as well as assisting with patient education and scheduling of patient treatment.

Her outside interests include exercise, going to the beach and spending time with family and friends.

Surgical Assistant

Alisa was born in Miami and raised in Bridgeport Connecticut. She returned to Florida after graduating high school to attend Sanford Brown Institute where she graduated and obtained her Certification as a Dental Assistant.

Alisa provides direct clinical patient care with Dr. Katz as his surgical assistant. She is also certified in Basic Life Support Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and along with other Surgical staff members, provides supervision of strict adherence to all OSHA, CDC and other state and federal regulatory guidelines for office infection control and sterilization procedures.

Alisa’s outside interests include Music and Art.

Surgical Assistant

Anthony is a Florida native having been born and raised in Coral Springs. Anthony is a part time Surgical Assistant, as he is currently pursuing a full time degree at Broward Community College, studying to become an Emergency Medical Technician.

He is extremely familiar with dental practices, having worked for Dr. Kawa and Nicolas Orthodontists for 6 years, performing office functions of filing, scanning and other general tasks. He chose to learn dental assisting as an outgrowth of his interests of accepting greater responsibilities by providing active patient care.

Anthony’s outside interests include a passion for the Miami Dolphin football team, sports in general and the movies.

Oral and Facial Staff Boca Raton, FLRachel Adorno, C.D.R.

Surgical Assistant and Dental Radiographer

Rachel was born in Pennsylvania and lived her early childhood in Lebanon. She came to Florida later in her childhood and has been here ever since. She graduated Lakeworth High School and attended Nova Southeastern University where she received her certification as a Dental Radiographer. She is now also pursuing a course of study at Palm Beach Community College in Crime Scene Technology.

Rachel has also worked in Dr. Kawa and Nicholas’ orthodontic practice for eight years, where she initially performed office clerical work and then progressed to clinical care receiving certification as a dental radiology technician.

Rachel does double duty in the practice serving as a dental radiographer and clinical photographer technician as well as a surgical assistant.

Rachel’s outside interests include; Reading, Egyptology and Snorkeling
